We had our 1st Dr. Appointment Today

It went great!  We are so lucky to have the same doctor that we had with Roslyn, Dr. O'Hanesian, who we just loved.  He is the perfect fit for our family and we are so grateful that we have him for this baby too.

The appointment was full of paperwork, exams (possibly my least favorite thing EVER), and general chatter about pregnancy do's and don'ts, etc.  One thing I was really pleased with was to find out that I was probably around ten pounds lighter than I assumed I would be at, so I feel more confident that I am starting out the best that I can with this pregnancy in that regard.

We talked about how we will plan a cesarean this time, about a week before our due date and general dietary stuff, etc.  I walked out feeling happy, confident and absolutely sure that we are in the best care for us and nothing can really beat that feeling!

We have an ultrasound scheduled in a little over a week, next Thursday, which I absolutely can't wait for.  Todays appointment really has things sinking in and spurring more and more excitement for the fact that we are growing our family!  Funny how the fatigue and morning sickness hasn't had the same effect! ;)

7 Weeks!

(I'm using the information from www.whattoexpect.com to do these posts)
"How does your baby grow? Pretty fast, actually. At 7 weeks pregnant, your baby's length is approximately a quarter of an inch — the size of a blueberry. Sounds pretty tiny still?  Consider this for a little perspective: Your baby is 10,000 times bigger now than it was at conception a month ago.
The biggest fetal growth this week is your baby's head (the better to store all those smarts in), with new brain cells being generated at the rate of 100 cells per minute. How's that for a budding genius?
And talking about buds, your baby is going out on a limb this week as his or her arm and leg buds begin to sprout and grow longer (and stronger), dividing into hand, arm, and shoulder segments — and leg, knee, and foot segments (though the limb buds look more like paddles than hands or feet at this early stage).
Also forming this week are your baby's mouth and tongue. And although your embryo is just one month old, it's already gone through three sets of kidneys. The ones in place now are the permanent set and are poised to begin their important work of waste management. In about a week, your baby will start producing urine. Lucky for you, there's no need for diapers (yet). As your baby matures inside you, much of that urine will be excreted into the amniotic fluid, swallowed again by your baby, and then excreted again in a continuous cycle."
And because I absolutely adore pretty much EVERYTHING about the darling Nichole, especially her weekly updates she's done with her pregnancy, I will be posting the same kind of updates each week too!

Size of baby: about 1/2 and inch in length, similar to a blueberry!

Total Weight Gain/Loss: no clue!  Will see/hear dreaded #s at tomorrows appt.  I don't feel like I have gained any weight, but I feel swollen like I have bad water retention so I am sure that I won't like the # I see at all.  Like I ever really like the number anyways!

Maternity Clothes: a bit early for that, but some stretchy front pants do seem appealing at the end of a day in jeans lol.
Gender: Too early to tell :)

Movement: None yet, of course.
Sleep: Pretty much all I want to do!  Ive been sleeping alot more than usual, but I wake up often so I never really feel totally rested.

What I miss: Being able to take stuff like ibuprofin if I have a headache or other medicines if I need them.

What I'm Looking Forward to: the second trimester when the yucky stuff like extreme fatigue and morning sickness subsides.

Cravings: Chocolate Nesquick, Grilled Cheese with Tomatoes and BLTs.

Symptoms: Fatigue, Morning (more like Mid-day to Midnight) sickness, ligament pain and headaches.

Best Moment this Week:  Knowing that my 1st doctor appointment is this week... hoping for an early ultrasound!  Also wandering stores with Drew and daydreaming what we will need and want for the baby.  Deciding on our girl name.

Things I need/want to do this week

I didn't get nearly everything done on my to-do list last week... so I will carry those things forward and add anything else!

  • Create a cute little organizational nook by the washer and dryer for detergent, bounce sheets, a jar for pocket finds etc.
  • Dr. appointment on Tuesday!
  • Spend time with Teresa when she is in town!  yay!
  • Print pregnancy checklist.
  • Print out bank statements for taxes.
  • Finish reading The Bell Jar.
  • Make notebook to keep all things related to pregnancy in.
  • Help Roslyn with cleaning her room.
  • Buy Tangled on DVD on Tuesday for our little Rapunzel.
  • Start weekly pregnancy development blogging.  Want to document it all!
  • Print Faerie Frolic pics to scrap.
  • Call insurance about phone.
  • Call bompa website people about refunding an order I was charged for but never went through/was recieved.
  • Clean out and organize pantry shelves in kitchen.  Toss the crap- box up stuff to give away- and organize the rest
  • Turn in school enrollment for next year for Roslyn.
I hope I do better on this list this week! :)

learning to take care of me

I suppose it could be because I'm pregnant... but lately I have had little to no tolerance for stressful people or situations and the affect that they have on me. And for the first time in a long time, I am finally putting myself first and just stepping away from them. It's not easy. It's sad, scary and hard, but I am doing it. And day by day it all gets a little less stressful and a lot freer.

I'm through with negative, critical, judgemental, mean-spirited people and things. I feel like I have just taken it all in so long now that I had to break free. For me, for my family and this life that I am responsible for growing. I wish I could have had the courage to do it sooner but now is just as good as of a time as any.

Spring Fling Faerie Frolic

This last Saturday, Roslyn and I, along with Kristin and her Anna traveled down to Gilbert for the Faerie Frolic and it was a truly wonderful time.  In the week (and for me, mostly the night before!) we prepared outfits for the girls befitting a faerie princess.  It's safe to say that our girls were truly faerie princesses and loved every minute of it!

currently...

(this post is inspired by Tina's post on her blog)

currently missing my Roslyn girl... this time with Grandma is great for her, but brutal on me!

currently looking forward to tomorrow's St. Patrick's Day concert in Tempe... going to see Flogging Molly!

currently listening to my iPod on shuffle and rediscovering music I love but have neglected lately.

currently in the mood to scrapbook now that I have finally gotten the scrapbook stuff in and organized in the bedroom.

currently loving the spring like weather we are enjoying here in Prescott.  It's been lovely.

currently excited about Saturdays Faerie Frolic day down in the valley.

currently wishing I had a Pina Colada Sobee... yum.

currently feeling like I should drink more water.

currently happy that I have made so much progress on the big to do list that I started a few weeks ago.  Only ten things left on a list of 30+.

currently rocking my Jimmy Eat World shirt... and hoping that they decide to add an AZ show date to their return to the US tour run.

currently suffering major Disneyland withdrawls lately.  Haven't been since October and I am so ready.  Hurry up June!

currently spending way too much time on Pinterest but I don't care because it's inspiring and has inspired a lot more productivity to actually do and make the things I always put in the idea file.

currently still dazed and in almost disbelief that there is a baby growing in me.

What are you currently up to?

Some News to Share! :)

Drew and I are expecting!  We found out last week and have been letting the exciting news sink in for a bit while we told our family and local friends the wonderful news.  We couldn't possibly be more excited to be having another child and Roslyn is over the moon about getting to be a big sister!

This time was a little extra special for me since Drew wasn't just in the next room when I found out... he was at work so I had time to come up with a cute way to tell him.  As luck would have it, Drew's birthday was just the next day so that night we went out to dinner at Olive Garden.  I brought along Roslyn's birthday gift for Daddy and my gift to him, marked with a tag that read "includes an IOU".
When Drew opened the box, the looks on his face were simply priceless as he let it all register.

I told him that the IOU was because I needed about 8 months to finish getting his gift ready... that we were going to have another baby!
We've been in a happy daze ever since we found out!  I'm just beginning week 6 of being pregnant, and I've been feeling really good... just very, very tired which was how I was when I was pregnant with Roslyn.  So far no morning sickness which I had already had by this point with Roslyn.  Hopefully typing it all out wont jinx me lol!

Anyways, we just wanted to share our good news... we know its early to be announcing typically in many peoples eyes, but we want to surround this entire experience with positivity and joy and part of that is sharing with everyone we know and love, no matter what!
