This is Halloween!

Well, it's finally here!  One of my personal favorite of fun and Happy Holidays... Halloween!  I love the crisp fall air, the traditions with family leading up to this festive day and all of the cute costumes that can be seen on kids all around.  It's a day of pure fun around these parts and I am so excited that it is here!
our halls are decked with Halloween treats!

Our pumpkins are carved... the costume is laid out and plans are made as to what we'll do this evening for Trick or Treating and celebrating fun.
Roslyn and I at the Square's festivities

We've definitely spent this month having the most fun that we can... heck, we started in September with our Disneyland trip!
at Disneyland

We've been to the two different pumpkin patches in town, we've spent the day at the Court House Square at our towns Harvest festival (sometimes, Prescott really does feel like Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls) and so much more.  We've already had our fill of decorations, traditions, candy and more.
Pumpkins!  We went with a Tim Burton theme this year :)

One of my personal favorite traditions is our pumpkin carving!  Every year Drew, Roslyn and I pick out our designs and then I get to carve them all.  Roslyn helps with the pumpkin picking and guts, and well, Drew... lets just say he's head of the praise department.  He oohs and aahs and declares HIS design the best even though *I* am the one who carves it!

face painting at the Square

Roslyn had a blast getting her face painted again this weekend at the square.  It was a fun afternoon of candy, games, pumpkins, family time and so much more.

Halloween decorations around our house

Today Roslyn will wear her adorable costume to school and enjoy a Halloween party with her class followed by the traditional parade of costumes around the Court House Square.  I remember doing that when *I* was in 1st grade and I think it is so neat that Roslyn now gets to do that very same thing!  We're lucky to be a part of a school that is so rich with family events and traditions that have carried out through literally decades.  Here are some pictures of Roslyn in her costume last week at the Fall Carnival at the school.  I'll be getting some more and some 'official' costume pictures tomorrow. :)

fall carnival fun!

I hope that y'all who are celebrating Halloween have the best one yet!

She scrapbooks! :)

Yea!  I finally took the time to sit and actually photograph the layouts I have done the last two months.  It doesn't seem like a lot for two months, but honestly, I have only scrapped once a month the last few months at my monthly crop so I am pleased with what's been done!

Most (if not all!) of these layouts are completed using my Studio Calico kits with some stash bits and pieces thrown in.  I've gotten through almost all of my backlog of kits and am really LOVING the layouts that I have been making.  The last few kits in particular have been some of my very favorites!

So... enough talking!  Here are the layouts! :)
Using the Field Guide October kit with some bits of a September add-on included.

Using the Field Guide October kit and the trim and some patterned paper from a September add-on.

Using the Glee Club kit. This one is a scraplift of this beautiful layout from the Studio Calico Gallery.  I covered the chipboard buttons in the tape that came in my kit and it was so much easier and quicker than covering with paper and glue.  This is a trick that I can see myself using a lot!

Made using the Lawn Party kit- one of my absolute favorites!

Inspired by a challenge on the Disney Scrappers forum :)

This is using a kit as well, though I am not sure which one.  I did my best to channel the amazing Celine Navarro with this one... a scraplift of one of her amazing layouts.  I'll link to her creation as soon as I find the link. :)

Made using the Lawn Party kit.  This was also created for the final Creative Therapy Catalyst that I was honored to be asked to be a part of.

Made using Candy Shoppe... loved the Crate for Studio Calico papers and how bright they were!  The rainbow stitching was a lot of fun to create as well.

Thanks so much for taking the time to check out what I've been up to!  Hoping to get back into scrapping more regularly... at least once a week.  It's just so fun! :)

37 weeks :)

almost 37 weeks along
Your Baby in Week 37 of Pregnancy
Congratulations! You've got what is officially considered a full-term baby, even with three weeks to go. That doesn't mean he's finished growing — in fact, he's still packing on about a half pound a week (at this age, the average fetus weighs about 6.5 pounds). That makes it a little crowded in your uterus, so he’s probably not kicking as much, though he’s probably stretching, rolling a bit, and wiggling (all of which you’ll be able to feel!). Right now, your little superstar is busy rehearsing for his big debut, inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid (to get the lungs ready for that first breath), sucking his thumb (to prepare for that first suckle of milk), blinking, and turning from side to side.
the official footwear of the Hall family

Size of Baby: 20 or so inches long and around 6.5 pounds... gaining about 1/2 an ounce a day!
Total Weight Loss/Gain: -12 pounds
Maternity Clothes: This entire pregnancy I have only bought 2 pairs of maternity jeans, one maternity cardigan, 1 maternity tank top and a novelty maternity T... the rest has been stuff from clothes I've already had or regular clothes that fit well for pregnancy and can be used transitionally after delivery while I get back into my regular clothes full time.
Gender: sweet little girl- Vivienne!
Movement: still movin' lots!  Especially first thing in the morning, late afternoon and right around bed time.  When she's resting she still and sound asleep, but when she is awake, she wants you to know that she is there for sure with quick, firm kicks, bumps and punches. <3
Sleep: Doing alright with sleep since I get the opportunity to nap during the day and when Drew gets home.  He is awesome to take over once he gets home the way that he does.
What I Miss:  Not a darn thing... enjoying the moments as I experience them now.  For soon I will be missing parts of now. :)
What I'm Looking Forward To:  Seeing her face for the first time.  Seeing Drew hold her and that glimmer he will have in his eyes as he meets a new little love in his life.  Watching him fawn over her.  Introducing Roslyn to her little sister and watching her become a big sister.  Holding her close and breathing her in.  Taking those sweet little hands and feet into my hands and marveling over them.
Cravings: Pudding.  Random, I know! :-P
Symptoms: General soreness in my pelvis, nausea, heartburn and headaches!  Oh boy! :-P

me resting, which bores me but I am so grateful for my reason to need the rest.

I absolutely cannot believe that we are only 2 weeks away from meeting Vivienne!  We had our 37 week appointment today and everything is looking good and healthy and I am only dilated about one centimeter so it looks like she is like her big sister and will hold out for her scheduled date!  I'm feeling alright... just tired and slowed down, but I know that that is normal and my body making me chill out and do what I need to do  to take care of Vivi and myself.

We had fun this last weekend at Roslyn's school Fall Carnival, a pumpkin farm visit and an afternoon spent playing in the fall leaves.  I'm so grateful that we've gotten to enjoy my most favorite season and time of year fully with all of our adventures from Disneyland, to the pumpkin farm, to throwing leaves and walking around with a pumpkin spice latte just breathing it all in deeply and with much gratitude.

I've found myself in a crafty mood the last two weeks as well so I am hoping that during rest breaks from putting the finishing touches on everything for Vivienne that I can bust out some layouts or other projects.  I'd like to make a general fall banner for our mantle to hang up through Thanksgiving.

Mostly I am just feeling so incredibly grateful for everything in my life lately.  I have an amazing, supportive and loving husband; a beautiful, sweet, smart and genuinely GOOD little girl; a beautiful new little daughter to love growing inside of me; a wise, strong and loving mother; a helpful and loving father; amazing, giving, loving and wonderful friends and more joy and blessings than I could ever deserve.  Life is truly beautiful and a gift to be so grateful for.

so much love

Here's to having another wonderful and hopefully productive week! :)

fall adventures

This weekend we made sure to find fall and enjoy a fun and leafy afternoon at the museum playing in some large and beautiful leaf piles.  I'm still pulling leaves out of my hair, a sure sign of a wonderful time.  Taking every moment to enjoy this most beautiful season with a full and grateful heart!

36 weeks :)

Your Baby in Week 36 of Pregnancy
Forget your aching back (and everything else!) by trying to focus on your baby, who is now about six pounds and 20 inches long, with soft bones and cartilage to allow a safer journey through the exit door. Most of her systems (from circulatory to musculoskeletal) are ready for prime time, though her digestion system — which has done only practice runs so far — will kick into gear as she takes her first suckle at the breast or bottle.

Size of Baby: Up to 20" long and almost 6 pounds!

Total Weight Loss/Gain: -12 pounds

Maternity Clothes: still in my maternity jeans and whatever shirts look best, cover the maternity panel and look cute.

Gender: Girl! <3 Vivienne Claire.

Movement: Lots! Big rolling movements and lots of what I think are elbow jabs and kicks.  She might be practicing her irish step dancing already lol!

Sleep: Alright.  I wake up a lot during the night to re-position myself but am lucky to be able to rest often during the day when Roslyn is at school and the evenings when Drew is home.

What I Miss:  I'm making every effort to not think about what I miss about not being pregnant right now because I know that in a few weeks, I will be missing parts of right now, being pregnant.  We're not doing this again so I want to try to take it all in and not wish any of it to pass faster and enjoy it.  It's a special time of just me and Vivienne.

What I'm Looking Forward To:  Meeting sweet Vivienne and bringing her home.  Starting out this life as a new family of 4.  I really didn't know that we would ever be a family of 4 and I can't wait to begin that chapter officially.  I think it will be one of the most amazing adventures yet!

Cravings:  Nothing sounds good lately.  Probably because I can't eat more than a bite or two without feeling like I may explode!

Symptoms: heartburn, soreness, morning sickness- the usual.

It's so crazy to think that we are at the point that is often times considered full term for pregnancy.  That we are so close to her grand entrance into the world.  But honestly, this week, it feels like anything but close or soon!  I swear that the snails are passing me by right now on this journey!  But I am trying to be grateful even for that slowness... I know that there will be parts of me that will miss right now in a few short weeks.

I've been feeling alright.  Just tired and sore a lot, but overall a lot better than one would think at entering month 9 in pregnancy.  Roslyn has been back in school after a wonderful week together for fall break which has had me in a funk.  There is nothing I love more than having her home with me and it is so hard to send her off every day after extra time with her.  We've got fun weekend plans to visit Mortimer Family Farms for another Pumpkin Farm trip so we are looking forward to that.  Trying to fill each and every day with joy, gratitude and adventure.

Vivi has the official family footwear now :)

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week... lots of love and thanks for the support, love and friendship as always!

Dear Vivienne,

Dear Vivienne,

It's Mama again. :)  We have been together now for 35 and a half weeks and I can't believe we are so close to meeting you!  You will be here in roughly three weeks from now.

We are so ready and anxious to meet you in person already!  We've spent the last six weeks getting everything that you need and that we want for you ready.  You are truly a loved little girl in every way.

One thing that I want you to know is how loved and wanted you are.  First and foremost by your Mama, Daddy and big Sister Roslyn.  You already fit so snugly and perfectly in our lives; like you've always been here with us.  You are meant to be, truly.

Secondly, you have the most amazing and loving chosen, extended family.  We have a small and beautiful little genetic family, where some people have larger ones than they could ever know what to do with.  But for where we might lack in that, we have been blessed with the most wonderful kind of family that one can have- a CHOSEN one.  You are absolutely LOVED and CHERISHED so much already by these amazing people and I hope that you always know that.  We are a family with a community family and that is a rare and special gift that not every one gets to experience.

I want you to know that I will always love you first and foremost in life.  I will listen to you with an open mind and an open heart.  I will HEAR what you have to say and I will respect you, your thoughts, your feelings and your opinions.  I will not assume the worst.  I will always strive to praise you first and be kind in any criticism or correction.  I will remember that my words, my actions, my facial expressions and even my thoughts will have power and a profound affect on your life and will choose them with love, compassion and faith in who you are.

I promise you that we will have adventures.  We will have fun.  I will dance with you, sing with you, run with you, create with you, praise you and love you every day of your life.  Your childhood will be a CHILDhood.  I will value your interests and your thoughts.  I will be a safe place to land, to vent and to feel... always.  I value everything you are and everything that you will be.  YOU ARE LOVED.  Always.

There will be times I mess up, but I will always admit my wrongs and learn from them as I would expect you to do.  I will always strive to do better every time and we'll always learn together.  I promise.

I'm excited for our adventures together as a family with you, Vivienne.  I think you will like being a part of this family.  We're silly, we're unique, we're quirky, we're devoted, we love A LOT, we adventure together, we laugh and we support each other always.  And we know that you will bring so much to our lives, our love and our adventures.

I love you like crazy sweet girl,

35 weeks :)

Your Baby in Week 35 of PregnancyYour baby is standing tall (so to speak) this week at about 20 inches and continues her steady weight gain (she’s about 5.5 pounds). While she won't get much longer, she will continue to pack on the pounds — including large amounts of baby fat — right up 'til delivery day. Something else that's moving at a mind-boggling pace these day: fetal brain development! There’s a lot going on inside that tiny head, which is, by the way, still soft to allow an easier exit through the birth canal.

Size of Baby: about 20" long and approximately 5 and a half pounds.

Total Weight Loss/Gain: -12 pounds

Maternity Clothes: Maternity jeans are a total life saver and mine are on their last leg!  It's a good thing we've only got about 4 weeks left or else I'd have to buy more!  Sticking with longer shirts that cover that ol' belly panel on my jeans and sticking with layers since I never know if I am going to be hot or cold on any given day.

Gender: a sweet baby girl, Vivienne Claire! :)

Movement: still moving lots and lots... since I'm short, when she gets going I can feel her all over.  Lot's of what I think are knees or elbows getting me and cute hiccups.  She likes to make sure that I know that she's in there! :)

Sleep: Getting to sleep fairly easily, but waking up a lot during the night to change positions.  I feel tired a lot, so I am resting and napping whenever I can.

What I Miss:  Right now my focus is to simply not miss anything about being not pregnant and enjoy the last weeks of my time just me and Vivienne.  We're not going to be having any more children so I am cherishing the last bit of this pregnancy and doing my best to be in the moment and enjoying it.

What I'm Looking Forward To:  Seeing her beautiful face, holding her in my arms and simply breathing her in.  Introducing her to her daddy and her sister and cherishing all of those special and unique infant blessings that simply cannot be replicated or replaced.

Cravings:  baked potatoes!

Symptoms:  heart burn is the worst of them!  UGH!  Not fun.  I have to go to the bathroom all the time and find I am generally sore and tired most of the time.  Still battle with nausea throughout the day but I'm pretty good at managing my symptoms and have a decent hold on them thankfully.

This week has been fall break... and such a blessing to have Roslyn home with me during the day as I miss her so much when she is away at school.  This last weekend we went to the Pumpkin Farm (Freeman Farm) and had a blast enjoying one of our very favorite family traditions.  I love fall and everything it represents to me... change, transition, gratitude and tradition.  All so much more meaningful to me this year as we await Vivienne's arrival.

We've reached the point where I can honestly say that we have everything that we need for when Vivienne gets here.  Between our shower and finishing up our shopping we're good to go.  I am so grateful for our family and friends and Drew who have showered us not only with love and support, but for everything that we need to take care of and welcome Vivienne into our family.  We're so grateful and so very blessed!

I'm doing great health wise which is a blessing and relief.  This far along last time around I was being seen twice weekly for high blood pressure which hasn't happened this time around thankfully!  In fact- I thoroughly impressed my doctor by getting up from laying down all by myself without his help.  He says I am in shape and that in his experience, women who are 35 weeks along usually aren't up to that!  I told him that I am just stubborn! ;)

Well... that's about it for now I suppose... have a wonderful week!
